Extended Disaster Relief
Extended Disaster Relief was formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and has taken 15 successful relief trips down to the Gulf Coast and Tennessee. Trips are offered every academic break (fall, Thanksgiving, winter, spring, May).

HOPE (Homeless Outreach Poverty Eradication)
The HOPE Alternative Fall Break was developed through a collaboration between APPLES and the HOPE committee through the Campus Y and is now fully coordinated by HOPE. This four-day fall break experience allows students the opportunity to learn about the challenges of homelessness and poverty faced by many communities. INTS 390: Latin American Perspectives
Explore the global and local aspect of migration as you research and work with immigrants in receiving communities in North Carolina and spend spring break in immigrants’ home communities in Guanajuato, Mexico. The Newman Center is the Catholic Campus Ministry at UNC. Multiple alternative break trips are offered both in the fall and spring.
The Wesley Foundation, a United Methodist organization, offers intentional programs to serve students in their first four years of higher education. An alternative spring break trip is offered each year, and is connected to a one-credit hour course.
