The Carolina Center for Public Service offers a unique opportunity for 25 Carolina first-year students to come together with dedicated faculty and staff to discuss public service and engagement at UNC. This capacity-building series offers a range of discussion topics and tracks, with a primary focus on preparing students for meaningful engagement in and with communities. Attendees learn about existing public service and engagement opportunities as well as how to get started early on a path with the Buckley Public Service Scholars program.
First-Year Service Corps members benefit from:
- A two-day immersive community engagement experience before classes begin
- Three capacity-building sessions led by Faculty Engaged Scholars, community partners and Carolina students
- Ongoing networking and leadership opportunities after completion of the program
