SMART Mentoring applications

SMART Mentoring engages UNC undergraduate students and local middle-school students in mentoring relationships. The program targets students from low-income communities and focuses on issues of race, class and gender. SMART is designed for highly motivated students who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of youth. 2017 APPLES Service-Learning Course Development Grant applications

Funded by the APPLES Service-Learning program and the Carolina Center for Public Service, up to seven $5,000 service-learning course development grants are awarded annually. These grants support course development of new service-learning courses across campus, including undergraduate, graduate and professional student courses. Assemble activity kits for Princeville children

The Carolina Center for Public Service, in partnership with Student-Athlete Services, Department of Athletics and Princeville Elementary School, will host a drop-in volunteer event 12:30 to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Loudermilk Center for Excellence in the Blue Zone (third floor). The Skills and Practices in Engaged Scholarship Consortium presents a workshop, Keeping the Ground Watered: Nourishing Community Engagement throughout the Research Continuum. The workshop is  10 - 11:30 a.m. March 10 at the NC TraCS Institute in Brinkhous-Bullitt Building, room 219. Apply for a Service-Learning Course Enhancement Grant

APPLES Service-Learning awards course enhancement grants of up to $500 every semester. These grants can fund course development, materials or support required to teaching a APPLES service-learning courses. Applications are received and accepted on a rolling basis and require a statement on how the funds will deepen the learning within the course. The 2017 class of Buckley Public Service Scholars will be recognized at a graduation event 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, May 12 at Memorial Hall. APPLES Service-Learning Initiative: Launch 2017 applications

APPLES Service-Learning offers the Service-Learning Initiative (SLI) as a unique student-led introduction to service-learning and the local Chapel Hill-Carrboro community. Applications are open for the Service-Learning Initiative Launch, a three-day experience Aug. 16-18 for incoming first-year students to learn about service-learning in the local community. Applications are accepted online through the CCPS Application and Nomination Portal until July 14.
