The 2017 class of Buckley Public Service Scholars will be recognized at a graduation event 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, May 12 at Memorial Hall. Graduating seniors have received an invitation and instructions on how to RSVP. Seniors may RSVP for as many guests as they need and a photographer will take a photo of each graduate on stage as they receive their cord and certificate. APPLES Service-Learning Initiative: Launch 2017 applications

APPLES Service-Learning offers the Service-Learning Initiative (SLI) as a unique student-led introduction to service-learning and the local Chapel Hill-Carrboro community. Applications are open for the Service-Learning Initiative Launch, a three-day experience Aug. 16-18 for incoming first-year students to learn about service-learning in the local community. Applications are accepted online through the CCPS Application and Nomination Portal until July 14.

APPLES Community partner spring internship applications

Community partners with growing needs or specialized projects are encouraged to apply to participate in the Service-Learning Internship program. Service-learning internships are proposed by community partners and publicized by the APPLES program. Open to full-time undergraduates, these internships offer students the opportunity to participate in a deep and meaningful professional experience while partners work with some of the brightest students at UNC. APPLES Service-Learning spring 2018 internship applications

APPLES Service-Learning Internships are unique, intense experiences in service for either the spring semester or summer. Students intern at a variety of nonprofit and government organizations, receive funding ($1,250 for spring and $2,500 for summer) and academic course credit through a course hosted by the School of Social Work. The Carolina Center for Public Service offers support for up to 10 Carolina graduate students to serve as skills training facilitators and share their expertise with undergraduate students engaged in service in the community and on campus. Applications for APPLES Service-Learning Alternative Fall Break (AFB) are open Aug. 22 to Sept. 18. Through AFB, students learn and serve outside the UNC community over fall break, a four-day period when the university is closed during October. Before the break experience, participants attend orientation sessions to prepare for the challenges and issues they will confront.
