2018 Buckley Public Service Scholars graduation event

The 2018 class of Buckley Public Service Scholars will be recognized at a graduation event 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, May 11 at Memorial Hall. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and guests do not need tickets to enter. A photographer will take a photo of each graduate on stage as they receive their cord and certificate and photos will be made available to each senior. A punch and cookies reception will immediately follow the graduation event. For accessibility concerns, contact BPSS.

Bryan Fellowship applications open

Bryan Fellowship in the APPLES Service-Learning program is designed for undergraduate student teams interested in creating social impact locally and/or globally through the creation of an innovative project that addresses a community-identified need. Buckley Public Service Scholars program fall enrollment

August 20 - September 30

Fall enrollment for the Buckley Public Service Scholars program is open until Sept. 30. All undergraduate students with at least four semesters remaining at Carolina can enroll in the Buckley Public Service Scholars program during the enrollment period. Transfer students must have three semesters remaining to enroll. When enrolling, students should sign up for an orientation session or make sure that they will be available for an orientation session the following semester. APPLES Service-Learning Alternative Fall Break applications

Applications for APPLES Service-Learning Alternative Fall Break (AFB) are open Aug. 22 to Sept. 10. Through AFB, students learn and serve outside the UNC community over fall break. Before the break experience, participants attend orientation sessions to prepare for the challenges and issues they will confront. During the break, students collaborate with community service partners in various capacities, engaging in both direct and indirect service as well as advocacy work. APPLES Service-Learning spring internship program

Community partners with growing needs or specialized projects are encouraged to apply to participate in APPLES Service-Learning Internship program. Service-learning internships are proposed by community partners and publicized by the APPLES program. Open to full-time undergraduates, these internships offer students the opportunity to participate in a deep and meaningful professional experience while partners work with some of the brightest students at UNC. Arts in Public Service Fellows applications

The Buckley Public Service Scholars (BPSS) program and Carolina Performing Arts partnered to create the Arts in Public Service Fellows, a program that encourages students to make a direct impact in their communities through the arts. Arts in Public Service Fellows fulfill BPSS program requirements and build portfolios focused on the arts as instruments of social change. Buckley Public Service Scholars graduate assistants

The Carolina Center for Public Service offers support for up to 10 Carolina graduate students to serve as skills training facilitators and share their expertise with undergraduate students engaged in service in the community and on campus. Selected graduate students are required to facilitate at least two skills trainings (one per semester) for Buckley Public Service Scholars (BPSS) participants as well as help with the review process of BPSS portfolios submitted by graduating seniors.
