The coronavirus pandemic has heightened community needs across the state and simultaneously interrupted many programs for community engagement. In response, the Carolina Center for Public Service is now managing an online list of active service opportunities. This resource is designed to connect community organizations that have volunteer needs with UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty and staff who are eager to serve North Carolina during this critical time.

Using the database

You can use the database to find ongoing service opportunities, both in-person and remote. Interested volunteers should communicate directly with the contact listed.

For undergraduates, some of these projects might be eligible for APPLES Service-Learning course credit (with consent from your course instructor) or for Buckley Public Service Scholars hours.

Employees may be eligible to use Community Service Leave for these opportunities.

Public health reminder

Remember to adhere to all public health policies and guidelines if you choose to volunteer in-person. For details, please review the CCPS Shared Programming Standards and UNC’s Community Standards for Health and Safety.

If you have any questions regarding a service opportunity, please communicate directly with the contact listed in the database. For general questions about this resource, email Becca Bender.
